The key ideas for managing organisational complexity which I recommend
in this seminar have a rich history. Their main roots lie in the concepts of
organisational cybernetics articulated initially by Ross Ashby (1964) and
Stafford Beer (1979; 1981;1985).
Although there has been a relatively slow take up of these ideas to date,
I will highlight their potential power for meeting the needs of modern organisations
